The US News & World Report high school rankings are making their rounds. However, I can't help but question the accuracy and relevance of the data. 🤨

In a rapidly changing world, what truly matters is the tangible skills our students graduate with. As a parent and educator, I find myself asking different questions: How many students leave high school equipped with a skills-based portfolio? How many confidently possess and can demonstrate their top 3 to 5 durable skills? How many graduate with real certifications and credentials that hold real-world value?

I'm not dismissing the importance of standardized test scores, GPAs, or dual credit opportunities. Yet, I believe it's time to shift our focus. The true worth of a high school education lies in the tangible abilities students acquire, the certifications they earn, and the skills they can apply immediately in their chosen paths.

Imagine a ranking system that showcases schools based on their commitment to nurturing these skills. A ranking that values hands-on experiences, project-based learning, and industry certifications. This would guide parents in choosing schools that prioritize real-world readiness and holistic growth.

It's not about where our kids stand in the rankings, but how well they stand equipped to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape. Here's to fostering tangible skills and certifications that truly empower our students for success!
