Our School Superintendent said WHAT!?!?

I am truly inspired by the forward-thinking approach that our superintendent shared during our recent professional development session.  On the first day, he challenged our conventional notions of success by raising a thought-provoking question: Should we solely measure students' post-secondary achievements based on their enrollment in 2 or 4-year colleges and universities right after high school?

This perspective shift is a remarkable leap towards recognizing the diverse learning paths that high school graduates embark upon in today's dynamic world. As educators, we understand that success is no longer confined to traditional higher education routes.

Our superintendent's insight acknowledges the plethora of opportunities that extend beyond these options. From vocational training to apprenticeships, entrepreneurship, military service, and more - these are all valid, meaningful pathways that our students can choose for their post-secondary journeys.

It's a refreshing departure from the outdated narrative that limited success to a linear trajectory. By reevaluating how we define a "successful graduate," we're paving the way for a more inclusive, innovative, and student-centered approach to education.

I'm grateful to be part of a school district that embraces this paradigm shift and is ready to explore new horizons in education.
